Every day we receive at least one or two inquiries and requests for help. We received and continue to receive many stories from people from all over Canada and the U.S., who during a visit to Mexico experienced a Mayan Resorts or Great Vacation Club (GVC) presentation. So, we decided to publish on this page a few of those stories:
"We enjoyed the resort very much. The room was excellent and well maintained. The grounds were very clean and beautiful. Gardeners were always around working on the shrubs and plants and seeing to it that everything was well groomed. The pool was well maintained and fun to be in. There were many activities to enjoy & participate in. The part that we enjoyed most was walking on the beach. It was well cared for and a pleasure to enjoy. "My husband and I were original owners, so we have seen a lot of changes. I did not go anywhere in 2005 but decided to spend 2 weeks in March. A break I needed. I was very impressed. The check in process was very smooth and efficient...I used room service for the first time and was very pleased with the menu choices and the service. "We vacationed at the Grand Mayan resort and had a wonderful time. We founf the excercise facilities very well provided qith suitable equipment iwth friendly service. I used them daily. The beach was very nice and walked to the north boundary everyday. The golf course, even though non of us golfed during our stay, added to the environment. The groceries supply was in close proximity, with regular transportation services, whenever we decided to enjoy food in our suites. Sittig areas around the pool were well laid out for swimming, reading, relaxing and visiting. An all around wonderful experience."

"We like visiting the Mayan Palace at the Marina in Puerto Vallarta the best of any of the Mayans becuase it is so easy to get around. We like to ride the bus witht ehe mexican people and we like to go over to the Marina to eat and shop. We go uptown severla times while we are there. Our second favorite is the Mazatlan facility for the same reason and the beach is very nice. The maids keep the units very clean and nice and I love to just sit and have breakfast outside and enjoy the ocean view. This past April we brought our son and daughter-in-law with us and they had a great time. Next year we plan on visiting for two weeks."

"We had a very enjoyable vacation at eh Nuevo Vallarta Resort. My husband has problems walking long distances due to a back problem. We would love to have benches around the grounds so we can rest a bit while walking to the different areas of the resort. Other than that, the service was excellent, the cleaning ladies kept everything very nice and clean, the staff overall was just so friendly and helpful, ti made for a great time."

"My husband and I stayed at the Mayan Palace Marina location for a week in March. This was the first time that we've stayed in a timeshare and, based upon some of the previous reviews, I was pertty nervous about it! We purchased on our pervious trip and I was thiniking that maybe we had made a bad decision. I completely changed my mind once we checked into the resort! Everyone was so helpful and we really liked our rooms. ...The location of the resort was great! All in all, we had such a great time at the Mayan Palace and are looking forward to our next stay there. Great times at Mayan Palace - Apr 8-15th"
We did an exchange for our timeshare through RCI to stay at the Mayan Palace last week. While we were disappointed that we could only get a hotel suite (we should normally have a 2 bdrm with our timeshare) even though we tried exchanging nearly a year in advance, it didn't deter us from having a great time.
- The staff are excellent, even though it was the busiest week of the year they were always pleasant.
- Rooms are nice and clean, no balconies in our building but the floor to ceiling windows open all the way which was nice.
- The pool at the Mayan is amazing! Very relaxing, lots of space and tons of chairs. No mad rush for chairs each morning. We liked it more than the Grand Mayan which seemed to crowded (we're a young couple).
- The grounds are spectacular, meticulously maintained, lots to do (kayaking, running around the golf course paths).
- Easy to grab cabs and only cost 110 pesos to Bucerias 160 to downtown.
- TumTah restaurant on the beach, at sunset, very nice!
- Breakfast buffet at the main restaurant (name escapes me)...$16, well worth it.
"Family Vacation at Mayan Palace"
I took my wife and kids (boy-13 & girl-16) to Puerto Vallarta for Spring Break, staying at the Mayan Palace on an RCI-transfer. The room was great with a nice ocean views. The A/C was efficient enough to chill wine if you left it on. Maid service every day was a surprise - we usually get that once per week at other timeshares. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. Even the timeshare folks accepted a "No, thanks" gracefully.
PV itself was great. We arrived during Holy Week so there were many more Mexican families in town for the holiday than Spring Breakers. This made for a very pleasent family experience (as opposed to our trip to Ft. Lauderdale last year for Spring Break - yikes!). Despite all the blogs and discussion boards that warned of driving downtown, we rented a car and had no problems at all. Okay, the first day was stressfull as I got acquainted with the local driving style...but after that, no problems. All in all it was a great experience. I would definitely stay at the Mayan Palace again if its just my wife and I. I recommend the Grand Mayan if you're traveling with a family.
"We had a beautiful room on the upper floors facing the ocean. It was spectacular as the birds flew by right outside the window late in the day. My wife had some health issues and was more comfortable in the room. So this was especially enjoyed. The ocean beauty can be absorbed also on walks along the water's edge because of Nuevo Vallarta's long, sandy beach. The staff was excellent. One suggestion is transportation from the resort to the main bus stop. SInce my wife was recovering from back surgery it made it hard to walk long distances. Also, the pools in the winter months seem very cold. I hope next time we go it'll be a bit warmer."

"Overall our experience this trip was a good one. We stayed at the Grand Mayan. There were four adults and two kids, and the room layout/size was wonderful for us. Not to mention the pool on the lanai for the kids. The resort is beautiful and well maintained, Tramonto Bar & Restaurant was our favorite dining spot, the gym and access to the beach and the beautifil pools were worth the trip. The only negative thing we found, although the rooms were very nice, the pillows and beds were too firm for our taste. The maid staff however was very accommodating in providing extra blankets to sleep on and nightly chocolates. The entire family had a wonderful time and a great experience."

During my las trip I really enjoyed floating on the inner tubes and as always when I return each year, my special time is just relaxing by the pool and reading many books during my vacation. The waiters that work around the pool are very good and service is always excellent. I did notice the announcer a bit too loud this time. Maybe it can be toned down a bit."

"We spend tow to three months travelling each year now that we are both retired. We own and have owned time shares for the past 25 years. We have stayed at a lot of very nice places but the Grand Mayan tops them all. We had a great tiem there. We played golf, went to the Mexican Fiesta, ate in many of the restaurants, relly enjoyed the lazy river, pools and even just walking on the beach or watching the golfers tee off in the morning as we had our morning coffee on our beautiful deck was great. "Our vacation at the Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta from March 17th thru 24th, 2006 was just great. We loved the atmosphere of the complex. We had stayed at the Mayan Palace in Acapulco in 2002 and in Cancun in 2004. This Mayan Palace is much smaller but just as beautiful as the others, just on a smaller scale. The grounds were well kept and all of the staff were pleasant, helpful and very informative. We were also very pleased with the location of the Puerto Vallarta Mayan Palace, being so close to the marina and its shops and restaurants. One thing I'd like to mention is the lack of railings along some of the stairs. For seniors it's often hard to go up too many steps without any support."

They were friendlier and more cooperative this last year. Maid service is excellant and I guess I can't complain....for the most part my vacations in Mazatlan are like being in Paradise!!!"
